After a 3 hour train ride, I've arrived in Sontheim an der Brenz. I took my bags and walked towards town.

At the railroad crossing the arms came down.

"Oh? Another train?" 

Indeed! A track maintenance train (tamper express) shoots by on its way to some construction site. There are multiple videos on Youtube that show how this machine works.

By the way, ... what a neat switch tower. That deserved a closer look.

I proceeded in the mid-day heat through the quiet streets of Sontheim to the gym of the local school.
