About Lostentry

Hello there!

Welcome to the Lostentry blog, where I write about topics I find interesting.

This blog is composed of various major themes. I write a lot about train-related topics. The "Welztalbahn" is my home HO model railroad, set in the southern Black Forest in Germany roughly in the early 1970's. I introduced the layout in a couple posts from 2015, and there is a 2014 video run-through over the whole mainline (of course, scenery has progressed quite a bit since).
I cover many model railroading topics as I'm building the Welztalbahn. Follow the labels on the right if there's a specific topic you are interested in.

I have started to investigate a new layout project that attempts to model prototypical scenes from the Murrbahn between Backnang and Gaildorf/West north-east of Stuttgart and replicate the operations challenges of this single-track main line on the edge of the Stuttgart region.

I'm a member at Silicon Valley Lines, a model railroad club in downtown San Jose, California. At SVL I'm attempting to build the model of a large modern paper mill with some history.

When a model railroad is built, running it according to prototype practices keeps the fun going. Being a member of Freundeskreis Europaeischer Modelleisenbahner e.V. (FREMO) I find lots of inspiration and support for building and operating modular layouts at modular meets.

On occasion I write vacation or travel posts, and I enjoy the beauty of California where I live as well.
