I'm trying the other long-distance Europe connection from SJC: Lufthansa 489 to Frankfurt. LH is flying this route with an Airbus 340. I'm very curious how it compares to the Boeing 787 British Airways uses.
As expected, I got through security quickly. Same gate as last time, but no film crew. The travel experience at SJC is so much more relaxed than SFO. People are friendly. Lines are short. It's nice.
Judging from the number of people at the gate this will be a quite empty flight. The Premium Economy cabin is very nice and looks quite new. Reasonably large screen, good seat, with comfortable cushions, not too hard, not too soft, and decent recline. There was barely anyone in Business Class, and the Premium Economy cabin was half empty. Looks like there was even more space in Economy. Dinner was quite edible, but forget about the breakfast.
