I finally put the station segment back into the layout. No longer do I need to fake backgrounds, or choose angles that are confined to a 5 square foot space. The details work now focusses on the edges of the segment. I temporarily placed the fence at the edge of the maintenance facility. With the fence in place the difference in pavement color is no longer as jarring as before.
I need to come to a decision on whether to extend the paved tiles from the building to the edge the of the platform at track 1, or re-sand the damaged platform edge facing the station segment that got damaged during some maintenance a while ago.
Extending the tiles in front of the building seems like the better solution in terms of looks. However, it will be much harder to align and level the stationary platform with the platform tiles on the removable segment. Feel free to leave a comment with your opinion below.
